30-day Walking Challenge - Week-1 Recap
There must be something in the Astro.. I’ve been reading about some very long overdue changes coming for Virgos with the placements of the planets, I’m not very big believer of these things but I do take notice as there’s been countless times when I looked back at the coincidences of things - aaanndd they’ve been surprisingly accurate!
This was very much on a whim of a challenge that I decided to take on. Firstly, because I have been really trying to add more out of screen activities. Secondly, my birthday is coming up in less than two months and hey, what better way to tone up a little before then 😝. Lastly, I’ve been building new habits to add on to my routine - so here goes nothing! Fingers cross for me I can stick the 30-days out!
Day 1: JLT with YFE
JLT is has lots of walking paths around the lake and many people are actually walking on the evenings.
Shout out a client of mine Saranya for inspiring to start a 30-days challenge. It makes it motivating to start a habit when you have put yourself out for community accountability.
My cousin and I managed over 8000 steps - between my yaps and my rants 😂, we were both catching breaths before we resigned to ending the night with healthy hot pot!
DAY 2: KITE BEACH WITH YFE
Second day lucky that my cousin have obliged to join me for day 2! Yaaaayyy! It’s hot and humid with the Dubai’s full summer on!
And that’s just a little extra challenge that makes this all the more exciting - if I can stick it out until the end despite the heat, I think that’s something to be proud of!
Kite Beach is a great walking spot! Plenty of people running, skating, biking, swimming, playing volleyball and other sports - you name it, everyone’s working on their fitness! There’s dedicated tracks for each activities, well lit in the evenings, plenty of food kiosks along the tracks and the beach offers the much needed comfort and breeze.
It can be a bit intimidating at first as why does it seem everyone is sooo fit here? 😃 Just mind your own fitness and you should be alright!
From Salt to Burj Al Arab is a 3km walking/running track and tonight we did over 14,000 steps! Pretty impressive for someone who’s been quite stagnant on physical activities, lol!
day 3: Within OUR Community - Solo
Today, I decided to walk it out within my own community for convenience. The sunset is stunning that makes for an enjoyable nature walk.
A friend asked why I just not go to the gym. To be honest nothing beats fresh outdoors air (albeit the humid), I would very much rather breathe the heat than collective gym air sweats and breath 🤭.
And really, would you really rather look at metal bars than an open sky of orange and red hues?
Another to note, I enjoy walking and brainstorming out loud on my phone of the ideas, or also saying my feelings out loud (hearing your own thoughts make it easier to see if you actually sound reasonable or are you holding up biased emotions) - also hello chatgpt 🤣
I managed over over 7,000 steps - not bad! It’s Day 3 and I am surprised I am holding it well still, it helps that I am also able to add another routine which is shower after walk.
It makes sleep all the more comfortable and makes next morning shower quicker :) #winwin!
DAY 4: WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY - SOLO
Decided to check out what’s outside of our community and lo and behold, there is landscaped walking path added next to the roads! How cool!
I shared with on my stories how this is such a perfect example of the “Dubai-it” concept where Dubai builds incredible things in record phase.
There is something so beautiful in layered colors of the sky at dusk…😍
What do I hope to achieve with these steps?
I guess a good sleep from the light evening workout. Some sweat here and there and just overall habit formation.
DAY 5: bluewaters & JBR - with karine
Change of scenery helps to enjoy the habit I am trying to build. It adds novelty to the experience. Today I chose Bluewaters - the walk around it and over the bridge to JBR all the way to the end and back is a good tolerable distance for leisure walk.
Grateful to be joined by friends! It’s a perfect catchup activity and Karine is always a sunshine to be around with, always inspiring as always!
Over 8,000 steps and a nice light dinner at Mondeoux Bluewaters is a great way to end the walk.
day 6: within our community - solo
This is one of those days when consistency is being challenged. It’s so easy to not show up and just bail - but I also know I would very much feel disappointed with myself if I don’t do what I say I’m going to do.
More than consistency, I care about integrity of my words and dedication to what I started. If I give up on the easy things then what more on the harder things..
I was dragging my feet but hey, managed over 4K steps despite 😌
Plus I have an early day the next day. Know when to push and know when to slow down.
day 7: kite beach - solo
And we made it to Day 7! Today has been one of those busy days. I was up early for a full-day mastermind of entrepreneurs who wants to 10X their goals.
Such an eye-opening of the possibilities and so I thought I wanted to make sure I get closer to the waters to really think and plan for the next steps!
I went for a grounding walk near the beach for the first half, dip for a bit and then continued on to walk my second-half of the day.
Buzzing with inspiration at the moment and don’t want to loose the momentum!
Kite Beach is always a great spot to walk miles and miles without noticing it too much! Always lots of things to entertain the eyes!
